Community Service Teacher Development Program

Starting this September, a terrific opportunity is available for Indigenous Grade 12 graduates, parents and community members. The Community Service Teacher Development Program (CSTDP) is a hybrid education and training program designed for Indigenous people interested in careers in community service or education who may face barriers to employment and need extra assistance to succeed.

In this year-long program, participants will learn about the fundamentals of child development, how children process information and learn, group supervision and management, and de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques.

Participants will also learn Indigenous perspectives, wellness, communication, advocacy, and leadership development. Practicums will be held with all six Winnipeg school divisions so participants can gain immersive work experience. 色猫AV is proud to be an active partner in this program.

Graduates of the program will be qualified to work in a wide range of community service and education sectors, providing meaningful and culturally relevant support. The program is open to Indigenous persons living in Winnipeg (Status, Non-status, Métis, and Inuit). For those who are interested, the potential to continue programming to become a teacher in fall 2025 is also an option.

Tuition is individually based. Please contact to determine funding eligibility and tuition costs. For an intent to register form, visit:

Forms must be submitted by June 25, 2024, to the Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development Inc., attention: Lisa Neufeld, 304-151 Higgins Ave.
